Barcelona were looking to strengthen in January this year after selling Memphis Depay to Atletico Madrid in the winter transfer window.
However, their financial situation ultimately prevented them from reaching an agreement.
Barca have sought the likes of Sofyan Amrabat and Marcelo Brozovic, and are now reported to have also been interested in Nicolo Zaniolo, who was looking to leave Roma after their relationship broke down.
The 23-year-old ended up being transferred to Galatasaray, a club with which he signed a contract valid until the summer of 2027.
However, his agent Claudio Vigorelli revealed to “Relevo” that Barcelona was looking to sign the Italian.
“In January, in Spain, it was not easy to bring him. The situation did not really arise. In La Liga, the market was a bit blocked because of wages,” he said.
He was on Barcelona’s list, I can confirm. They liked it, but for economic reasons, it was not a viable operation,” Vigorelli declared.
